STRESS
Stress is a familiar companion in life, nudging you to do better in small doses. Yet, when it stays, it can cast a shadow on both your physical and mental well-being.
It’s like pressure, either from others or yourself. When handling this pressure becomes tough, stress sets in, and its impact varies from person to person. If allowed to stay, it might even lead to illness.
Stress is essentially a reaction to a threatening situation, triggering the fight or flight response. The fight response fuels you with sudden energy to face the threat, while the flight response urges you to flee and protect yourself. Even though life rarely puts you in actual life-threatening situations, your brain reacts the same way under pressure.
When there’s no option to fight or flee, the chemicals in your system build up, potentially harming your immune system. Left unaddressed, this build-up can pave the way for depression, anxiety, and other issues. Seeking therapy is crucial if your feelings are taking a toll on your day-to-day life.
